SECURED PERSONAL LOAN

A secured personal loan requires you to use an item of value to guarantee the loan against.

Another definition of loan security is collateral, or more specifically collateral loans.

If you have bad credit, getting a loan is generally harder, but it may be easier if you are able to offer good loan security.

.A secured personal loan with bad credit is more desirable to a lender than an unsecured personal loan with bad credit!

Abacus Finance specialise in secured loans
- Personal Loans and Home Loans.

You can APPLY ONLINE now - no obligation application - with a prompt response and helpful assistance.

Unsecured Personal Loan

An unsecured personal loan does not require you to use an item of value as a guarantee.

Unsecured loans are harder to get, and will generally have higher costs.

If you live outside of New Zealand, you should have a look at Home Loans at Secured Loans Compared - they can help you find the secured home loan that's right for you.

ITEMS YOU COULD USE

car; motorbike; boat; boat trailer - caravan - campervan - motor home - trailer - jet ski...

We will only consider household goods / whiteware etc as security on loans for $1000 or less for applicants with an excellent credit history.

Insurance

A note about Insurance...

It is a well-accepted condition of a secured loan, whether it is a secured personal loan or a home loan, that the item/s used as security need to be insured.

You need to have the correct, up-to-date insurance on the item, you are using.

Your insurance company will also need to list the lender on your insurance policy as an interested party.

NO SECURITY? USE A GUARANTOR

Don't have anything of value to offer as security?

How about using a guarantor?

What is a Guarantor?

This would be a family member, friend, your boss or someone you know who is willing to provide security for your loan.

The loan is to you, but it uses their property as security.

You need their written permission for this, and then their item is registered against your loan.

The rules are the same, but you are simply using someone else's property for security on the loan.

WHY?

This provides the lender with a physical item they can take possession of if you do not make your repayments as agreed.

This is commonly known as repossessing the item or repossession, and is not the desired outcome for either party.

The value of the item should be greater than the amount borrowed.

HOW?

If you take a secured loan, then probably all you have to do is sign the required documents.

For the Lender there is a simple process the lender will follow to register the item. It is most often done through the PPSR - Personal Property Securities Register - which is a government run database.

This results in a financing statement which does not detail the loan but does record:- your name
- date of birth
- address
- contact details
- description of the item for security

FINANCED ELSEWHERE?

You are not able to use an item that has already been registered for another finance deal, but give us a call and we can talk it through.
