Primary Schools CambridgeThere are a number of primary schools in Cambridge township, plus many more country schools around the periphery of town.
Choosing a school is such a personal process for each family, so I have simply listed below the names of as many local schools as I could identify.
Then I have included a Government website that publishes the Education Review Office (ERO)reports. ERO is a government department that audits all schools on a regular (usually 3 yearly) basis to ensure they are performing as required. This is just one way of assessing the suitability of a school.
Within Cambridge town boundary: Leamington Primary Years 1 - 6 Cambridge Primary Years 1 - 6 Cambridge East Primary Years 1 - 6 St Peters Catholic Primary Years 1 - 8
Outside the town boundary (country schools): Rotorangi Primary Years 1 - 8 Kaipaki Primary Years 1 - 8 Hautapu Primary Years 1 - 8 Goodwood Primary Years 1 - 6 Te Miro Primary Years 1 - 8 Cambridge Montessori Primary at Te Miro Years 1 - 8
There is some zoning enforced which means unless you live within the designated zone for the school you may not be able to send your children there. The rules are different for each school, and this could become a significant factor in your house rental in Cambridge choice. In general, Primary schools cater for students aged from 5 years old for a period of 7 years (Year 1 - Year 8). However, some Primary schools only have students for a period of 5 years (Year 1 - Year 6).
If you are considering building or buying a property in the Cambridge or Waikato area of New Zealand in the near future, Abacus Finance can help with mortgage loans.
Or how about this...?! HAVE THEY LOST THEIR MINDS?A local Cambridge couple are raising funds to build a new church. (Just do it before 31 January 2010 if you want a chance to be the owner of this fabulous Lake Karapiro house).
Intermediate or Middle Schools CambridgeCambridge Middle School is the only school catering specifically for the Year 7 & 8 students before they begin High School (or College) at Year 9 (approx. age 13).A number of the primary schools have students right up to Year 8 though (see the list above). Another alternative is to send your child to a Hamilton school from Year 7 onwards. A couple of options familiar to Cambridge parents are:
Berkeley Middle School - this is for Years 7 - 9, and is in the suburb of Hillcrest, Hamilton. Cambridge students are not in the zone for the school but there are some places available by ballot each year. Southwell School - this is a private primary school on Peachgrove Road, Hamilton. Entry is determined by an application and interview process. Secondary Schools Cambridge (High School or College)There is only one public Secondary School : Cambridge High School. This is for Year 9 - Year 13 students; boys and girls. There is also a private Secondary School - St Peter's School - just outside the town boundary. St Peter's caters for students right from Year 7 to Year 13. And again, there are a number of options in Hamilton chosen by Cambridge parents for various reasons:
St Paul's Collegiate - boys only Years 9, 10. Co-ed Years 11, 12, 13. St Johns' College - boys only. Sacred Heart College - girls only. Waikato Diocesan School - girls only. Hamilton Boys High School Hamilton Girls High School
Each of the above Hamilton Secondary Schools have varying entry criteria and fees depending on whether they are public, private or integrated schools. EDUCATION REVIEW OFFICE FOR INFORMATION ON GOVERNMENT REVIEWS OF SCHOOLS CAMBRIDGE.
