Cambridge

Cambridge is a wonderful country town in the Waikato region of New Zealand. It is central to many North Island attractions, and is home to Lake Karapiro which is hosting the 2010 World Rowing Championships.
The closest city is Hamilton, which is approximately 20 minutes drive from Cambridge. The access to the city centre from the Cambridge end of the city is easy, even with some traffic delays at peak work and school times. So this is another reason a lot of people look for house rental in Cambridge.

Cambridge is very central, and you can also easily get to other major cities.

Taupo 1.5 hours

Areas of Town

Cambridge East on one side of the Waikato River is closest to the nearest city of Hamilton.
The main shopping centre is also on this side of the river but is equally close to both parts of Cambridge.
Cambridge East has a significant number of lovely, well-kept historic wooden bungalows and villas which form a key part of the overall image of Cambridge town.

Leamington is on the other side of the River and is closer to Lake Karapiro.
Leamington has a smaller shopping centre which also includes services such as Doctors, Pharmacy, Fish and Chip Shops, Pizzeria, Liquor Store, Gas Station etc etc
This area of Cambridge was significantly developed in the 1970's through until today, and has less of the historic bungalows and villas.

Both of areas of Cambridge include more recently subdivided areas, with a selection of modern housing for house rental.

Lifestyle blocks that offer more land and space for recreation, family and animals are also common around the edges of town.

In general, most of Cambridge is quiet and a good place to live. However, as with any town there are small pockets that are less desirable, and may be more noisy and such.

If you are considering signing up for a Rental property before you have visited Cambridge due to time or money constraints; then it is worth asking more than one Property Management Company for their view on the area the house is in.

Plus there is good old Google Earth. If you have the street address you may get lucky and find the very house on Google Earth. You can zoom up and down the street too, to get an idea of the neighbourhood.
