FINANCIAL FREEDOM

How We See It

Are you looking for financial freedom?

At ABACUS FINANCE we meet all kinds of people, with all kinds of ideas and dreams.

We hear about their lives, and their current money situations. They are letting us in to some of the most private details of their lives (confidentially) - because money is still a very private subject for most people.

So it is just human nature to want to help. We believe we are helping, firstly, by giving people access to money when they need it. It takes the stress out of now.

But part of helping is moving on to the next stage. Solve the first problem, then work on stopping the problem from occurring again.

Understand Your Finances

It is really important to understand your own finances. This is not something that comes naturally to everyone, but it is a basic, essential first step in achieving financial freedom.

You can not leave your financial future in the hands of someone else, and their decision making, just because you actually don't understand what is happening to your money.

Reading an economics textbook is not going to be the answer for many people. You need to take your "money education" in small steps.

(Ok, so this may be VERY basic, but surprisingly, many people never get the absolute basics in money management which leads to a lifetime of problems).

1. Start by knowing what money you have coming in

2. Then understand where that money goes

These are two very simple first steps that many people never take.

Do you just blindly spend your earnings, and then wonder why there is not a lot left at the end - the end of the week, the end of the month, the end of the year, and the end of your working life...?

3. The next step is to understand common terms about finance e.g. mortgage, term investment, savings, loans etc... If you want to own a house, run a business, invest your earnings / savings; then you need to understand the terminology.

dollarstep.com takes this same approach. You need to understand the basics before you can be in control of your money and future. So this website gives you an understanding of the most common finance terms.

Once you start easily understanding the basic principles of money and the ways to describe them, you can build from your personal finances to business and investments.

Just remember to ask yourself: " How can I build financial freedom if I do not understand what is happening with my money? "

This thought is repeated here at bankonmlm.com. Financial freedom rarely happens overnight. It is usually a process that takes time and effort - and begins with understanding your own finances.

Get Some Help

Whether you know it or not, many of the worlds' most successful people did not get there doing it on their own.

We all benefit from helping each other, and learning from the ideas and experiences others have.

Never be afraid to look for answers from books, (9 steps to Financial Freedom by Suze Orman is a fantastic resource) online, people, mentors, even services dedicated to teaching you how to do it - in fact anywhere you can think of, on how to achieve your dreams.

We all have different ways of learning that we feel most comfortable in.

How To Change Careers is a really great site designed to help you to work out what you want to do and how to make it happen. If you are willing to take your time, and put in some thought and effort into the exercises - then How To Change Careers will help you sort out how to get the career change you want.

Work with your natural way of operating; don't let this be a barrier to getting what you are ultimately looking for.

If you are looking for a way to earn enough income to have the lifestyle you dream of, there is so much help around - you just have to start searching.

Have a look at this interesting site, which is just for you, if you want to know how to become a millionaire.

Think Outside The Box

Sometimes you have to consider totally new ways of getting your financial freedom. If what you have been doing up until now has not realised all the dreams you have - then maybe it is time to "think outside the box".

Some areas of your life might need to change - unless you want to get what you have always got!

Everyone will have a limit to what they can and will change to pursue financial goals, but it is very worthwhile to re-evaluate all the parts of your life from time to time.

Work through the key parts of your life, and assess if you could make a change that will lead to better things.

Some areas you might think about:

- HOME: Where do you live? And why do you live there? Do you have to live in that house? That location? If you made a change would it be beneficial financially?

One great example of doing something different to change (and improve) your life is to move to another country. More often than not it is a work opportunity that allows you to live in another country. (For those of us who have not yet achieved total financial freedom anyway...)

Teaching English in another country is a well-known example of an overseas work opportunity.
You will find a wealth of helpful information to get you started at
Teach English in Japan, a comprehensive website written by two veteran English teachers who reside in Japan.

- WORK: Do you enjoy what you do? Is the remuneration enough? (This applies to a job as well as if you have a business). Could you do your work from somewhere else? Or for someone else, and get better pay? Could you do something completely new in the pursuit of financial freedom? Could you move or commute? Could you use your skills overseas?

- EDUCATION: Are you getting the full financial benefit of your education? Would it help to further your education? Is there enough value being put on your "other education" such as common sense, work experience, life experience?

Could you re-train or upskill to open up more opportunities? Going back to school doesn't always mean giving up your day job. You can attend night classes, use correspondence or even study online.

- LEISURE TIME: How do you spend your leisure time? Is it costing you money you could better utilise in your path to financial freedom? Could you combine what you love to do in your spare time with a money making venture - and get the best of both worlds?
Equally you may wish to do something meaningful when you are on holidays, which offers greater life experience and possible opportunities in the future. Make your holiday count - conservation projects with i-to-i.

- FAMILY COMMITMENTS AND GOALS: Are you getting enough family time? Is family time one of the goals for financial freedom? Is the way your family commitments are scheduled creating stress and unnecessary expense for your family? Could you change the way your family routine works for better family time and finances (e.g. work from home)? Or could you radically change the way you earn an income without it affecting your personal circumstances?

- NETWORKS AND COMMUNITY: Are you forming networks of people, and building a community in which you live? Can you see opportunities where, for both business and personal reasons, you could get to know people who you could help and they could help you? Networks and community are an invaluable way of finding opportunities.

Sometimes it is not just about the money either (actually it is often not just about the money). Lifestyle and doing the things we enjoy is a big part of many of our decisions. Perhaps we just need a significant change in the way we live.

HOME BASED BUSINESS

If you are considering starting a home based business then have a look at the Home Based Business Hub for first hand experience and ideas.

Follow Your Own Path

A final note on "thinking outside the box"... Just because it is not what everyone else is doing now, does not mean it is not the right thing for you to be doing.

Sometimes the path, to what you really want, is a path that not everyone else is willing to walk.

A good example of this is finding financial freedom online. In the last few years this has become a very accepted way of living and making money - but surely, in the early days, this was also considered "outside the box"?

Perhaps the way you choose to find financial freedom is not the way your friends and family would do things. But if it is lawful, and fits within your moral boundaries, then it may just be the right path for you.

The Rich Pom

Taking The Next Step

Sometimes that next step into your future requires some financial investment. If you are seriously considering a change for the better, then ABACUS FINANCE can help you get there.

You may need some money to pay your travel to the job. Perhaps the relocation expenses are more than you have right now. Or you need a little business start up money.

Whatever the reason, let ABACUS FINANCE help you get there – so you can get paid - and ultimately achieve financial freedom.

Investments

At some point on your road to Financial Freedom you will need to consider what Investments are best for you.

This may be at the beginning, part way through or the end of your climb to success.

An Investment may be what gives you Financial Freedom, or it may be where you put your money once you have already achieved it.

Wherever Investments fit into your plan, you will need to know what is available, understand what they are, and be informed enough to be sure they are managed well - either by you or someone else.

Ultimately the goal is to achieve Passive Income from our investments. Passive Income allows us to, in the words of Passive Income Passion, "earn the maximum amount of money with the minimum amount of effort".

In my opinion, the whole point of Investing is to achieve Passive Income and make your money work for you.

Have a look at our Investments page for information and help.

The Golden Rule

One of the best pieces of advice you can ever get is the simple rule of not taking advice from someone who hasn't done it themselves.

Everyone has something to offer, but not everyone has something to offer on every subject.

If you want to build success in a particular area, then you should find information from someone who has already built success in that area. There are many experienced business people online who are happy to share their wisdom and knowledge.

Find the expert in the field - and listen, and learn. Put into practice what you have learned and you will do well.

That has to be "The Golden Rule".

Whether it is business or financial management - find the expert who has succeeded, and share in their knowledge.

Teach Your Children

Financial education needs to begin early if we are to help our children and the next generation operate in a more financially sustainable way.

Achieving financial freedom is often about your knowledge and understanding of money.

A lot of the lessons we have learned are not passed on to our children. Perhaps you have struggled through tough times, and don't want your children to experience the stress, embarrassment or loss that you have? Always remember that life challenges also bring personal strength and wisdom. Don't deprive your children of these characteristics!

Use the many resources out there to start, and continue to, teach your children life and money lessons. Money Management for Kids is exactly that; a fantastic resource with ideas for teaching your kids about money.

You may have also heard the saying:"The first generation earns the wealth; the second generation maintains the wealth; the third generation loses it."

For your financial success and freedom to be enjoyed beyond your lifetime, down through your family's generations, you need to begin educating your children about money - so they can then educate their children, and so on...
